Bitcoin Scam: Obama, Gates Twitter Account Hacked

Twitter Account Hacked: Twitter Accounts of Apple, Bill Gates, Kim Kardashian, Former United State President Barack Obama and other high profile personalities were hacked.

Hackers attacked the accounts of persons who were among the 10 richest people in the world. These accounts were hacked with over millions of followers. The reason behind the Hacking of these accounts is that these accounts were then used to spread scam like bitcoin scam.

What’s Happened ?

Early Thursday, the twitter accounts of many famous persons were hacked in a Bitcoin scam.The Twitter accounts of rapper Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian, former US President Barack Obama, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezoz, Microsoft Co-Founder Bill Gates, Tesla CEO Elon Musk were hacked.

Not only these accounts many big companies such as Apple, Uber accounts were also hacked. This is a big Cyber attack on American companies and personalities. However the twitter account of US President Donald Trump is safe.

When Twitter came to know this information. Twitter had blocked these verified accounts, and denied access to these accounts also. Now, Twitter is Investigating the matter.

What is Bitcoin Scam?

The Bitcoin scam is a scam in which hackers asked people to donate Bitcoins, and in return they receive doubled Bitcoins. For example read a tweet from Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates hacked account,

”Everyone is asking me to give back. You send $1,000, I send you back $2,000.”

This is really a big scam and many people has come in the Lurch. Although Twitter has started investigating the matter. Twitter has removed all the posts from these hacked accounts.

All Tweets revealed three Bitcoin addresses, But only when is shared that belonged to an company named CryptoForHealth.

According to the BBC report, the web address where some of the tweets redirected users to was registered by cyber- attacker. The attacker email address is now revealed with the name of ‘[email protected]’ with the profile name of Anthony Elias.

There is also an Instagram handle of CryptoForHealth . The profile bio of this account is,

It was us,” The website cannot be reached now

Twitter Action on This Matter

Twitter issued a statement and said, that it is investigating the issue, and they are taking steps to fixing it.

Twitter said,

“We are aware of a security incident impacting accounts on Twitter. We are investigating and taking steps to fix it. We will update everyone shortly.”


Twitter takes action and blocked all the hacked accounts of famous personalities.

Later Twitter revealed that many of the hacked accounts have been restored and other accounts are still locked and once the things are secure the access will be restores to the account owner as soon as possible.

The company said,

“Most accounts should be able to tweet again. AS we continue working on a fix, this functionality may come and go. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”


It added,

“We detected what we believe to be a cooridinated social engineering attack by people who successfully targeted some of our employees with access to internal system and tools”


Doubt on Twitter Employee

Twitter said that the reason behind the hacking of these accounts is one of their employee. the investment is started and it is being explored that the employee himself hacked the accounts or gave the tools to the hackers.

How the Hackers Hacked the Accounts?

Hackers got success in hacking these accounts with the help of an internal tool at Twitter.

Firstly the hackers used this tool to reset the associated email addresses to make more difficult for the owner to regain control over their accounts.

Then the hackers play the game of Cryptocurrency Scam on Wednesday.


This was the worst Cyber attack in the history of Twitter. Now the twitter is investigating the whole matter. Many people loosed their money in this scam. Many of the hacked accounts were recovered and others accounts were recovered very soon. So, never ever trust on these fake offers.
