CM Uddhav demands Center to issue order to rename Aurangabad Airport

Mumbai. Amid the ongoing controversy over the renaming of Aurangabad city, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday issued the earliest notification regarding renaming of Aurangabad Airport (Aurangabad airport) as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Airport Requested from the center.

CM Thackeray has written a letter to Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri regarding this demand. In the letter, the Chief Minister apprised Puri of the decision of the State Cabinet to rename Aurangabad Airport after Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Sambhaji was the son of the Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The Shiv Sena, which has been in a coalition government with the NCP and Congress in Maharashtra, has long been demanding to rename Aurangabad city to Sambhaji Nagar. However, the Congress has said that it is against any such move.

On the issue of renaming Aurangabad in Maharashtra, differences within the ruling coalition in the state came to the fore again when the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) tweeted about the decisions of the state cabinet, in which the city was shifted to Sambhajinagar. As mentioned. At the same time, the Congress involved in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government has objected to this.

Significantly, Shiv Sena has been demanding for the last few decades that Aurangabad should be named Sambhajinagar. However, the party is now running a government in alliance with the Congress, which has consistently opposed this proposal.
