Cremation avoided accident: the beam of the cremation ground collapsed before it was lintered in Lalitpur; Child labor survivors, DM gave instructions for investigation
The beam of the under-construction crematorium in village Gowna of Lalitpur district in Uttar Pradesh could not bear the weight of the rendering and fell apart. Many laborers narrowly survived during this accident. Its video became stirred on social media. District Collector Dinesh Kumar has said that the matter is being investigated. Strict action will be taken against the culprits.
According to the information, cremation ghat is being constructed by the District Panchayat at a cost of 8 lakh 69 thousand in village Gauna of Saujana police station in the development block of Mahroni. Rural Sahab Singh said that in the afternoon on January 1, when the raindings were being put in the crematorium to be roofed, the beam broke, due to which the rending fell down.
During this time, many laborers working there got caught up. Thereafter, an attempt was made by the contractor to remove the material overnight. The video of the broken cremation ghat’s beam went viral on social media on Friday. After this, Additional Chief Officer Santosh Kumar Singh sent the engineer to the spot.
Block Development Officer Mehroni will investigate
At the same time, Block Development Officer Mahroni has been sent by District Development Officer Anil Kumar for investigation. Engineer Motilal, who returned here after investigation, said that the beam is broken during rendering. He informed that the cremation ground will be rebuilt by dropping down again. Here, Additional Chief Officer Santosh Kumar Singh has sought clarification from the JE and the contractor.
