Malegaon blast: Pragya Thakur missing from court for second time, lawyer says – AIIMS is admitted

New Delhi. BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur, accused in Malegaon Blast in 2008, did not appear in the special NIA court for the second time on Saturday. They have attributed this to health problems. Significantly, the hearing is going on in the court. Thakur Adalat had been absent even before this. He was admitted to Delhi AIIMS on Friday evening.

BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur’s lawyer JP Mishra said that Thakur has been undergoing treatment at Delhi AIIMS since April. She informed that ‘She had gone to the hospital for check-up and due to the medical report on Friday, the doctors had to recruit her.’ Apart from Sadhvi Pragya, another accused in the case, Sudhakar Chaturvedi, did not appear before the court due to personal reasons. The court has ordered all the seven accused to appear on January 4.

The matter was to be heard in a special court on Saturday. During this period, Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Purohit, Ramesh Upadhyay, Sameer Kulkarni, Ajay Raikar and Sudhakar Dwivedi appeared before the court. Earlier, the court had ordered all seven accused to appear on 3 December. During this time also Kulkarni, Racer and Purohit reached the court. Whereas, Thakur, Upadhyay, Dwivedi and Chaturvedi were missing.

The lawyers of the accused had given information that they could not appear before the court due to the epidemic. After this, the court ordered to appear in the court on 19 December. 6 people lost their lives in the blast on September 29, 2008 and more than 100 people were injured. The blast took place in Malegaon near Nashik.
