Top leaders of the state are busy campaigning for the by-elections in 28 seats in Madhya Pradesh these days, but during the same election one farmer died in Mandhatha assembly seat of Khandwa district. In fact, in the by-election of Mandhata assembly constituency, BJP’s star campaigner Jyotiraditya Scindia came to address the election meeting on Sunday. Before the arrival of Scindia, speeches of local leaders were going on. Meanwhile, when BJP MLA Ram Dangore from Pandhana was giving a speech, then 80-year-old farmer Jeevan Singh died there.
Speech continued even after death
After the death of the farmer, the people sitting on nearby chairs dispersed. Despite this, the speech of the leaders did not stop.
Today addressed a public meeting in support of BJP candidate Shri Narayan Patel in Mundi of Mandhata assembly constituency.
As per witness statements, local leaders addressed the gathering when the farmer died. As soon as the news of death spread, the people seated around him scattered as the leaders’ speech began.
By the moment Scindia had reached the stage, the body had been taken away. However, on being told about the death, he paid tribute to the deceased farmer and observed a one-minute silence, before completing his speech.
Reports have said that Jeevan Singh was a former BJP worker. However, several have raised questions as to whether the 80-year-old was permitted to attend a political event in light of the coronavirus disease.
